The HgCdTe detectors can be fabricated in Quadrant Arrays for scanning, tracking and positioning systems. The quadrant arrays require a common lead between the four elements in either X or Y direction. This is normally wider than the minimum separation in order to handle the bias current of all four detectors. Typical specifications are given for the 2mm to 12.5 mm region, however detectors are normally built as custom device arrays for the entire 1mm to 25mm range and can be fabricated with custom packages and using various cooling techniques.
